New Bridlington Town manager Brett Agnew

Brett Agnew has been named as the new manager of Bridlington Town after a successful period as their interim boss.

Agnew won three and drew one of his matches following the departure of Curtis Woodhouse. His first game as the permanent boss is at Penistone Church tonight.

Chairman Peter Smurthwaite said” “After recent requests from various sources I can confirm that Brett Agnew has been appointed as First Team Manager along with Anthony Bowsley as Assistant First Team Manager and both have agreed to accept the appointments! They will also be assisted by Gavin Kelly as the goalkeeping coach.

“There needed to be a settling in period after Curtis stood down and Brett and Anthony have impressed me with their organisation and enthusiasm. We have a very loyal group of fans along with our dedicated team of volunteers who help run the club and I am sure they will give the management team their full backing.

“As always the management team will be looking to strengthen the squad and will also be working with John Kenney and Terry Finney to develop players in the Reserves and the County team who have the ability and desire to want to progress into the First Team squad.

“I believe from what I have seen this season that this league will be the most competitive that it has been for a long time with most teams capable of beating each other and don’t think there will be a team that dominates the top of the division.”

  1. Strikes me that Brid’s problems stem from Scarboro’s ‘success’- their promotion from the NE Cts league took away a lucrative derby game + then they moved out, from being profitable tenants. The rent, bar takings etc that Brid got all need to be replaced as income from somewhere. Not safc’s fault- just how it is
