Goal machine Ash Flynn has incredibly scored just over 300 times in only seven years as a semi-professional Non League footballer.

Flynn is on the brink of scoring his 100th goal for current club Yorkshire Amateur and he hopes to achieve that when his club host Golcar United in the West Riding County Cup on Tuesday night.

Flynn is surely one of the greatest players ever to grace the NCEL because of his untouchable goals record.

The milestone is the latest headline for his footballing ability since bursting on the Northern Counties East League scene at Emley in the 2012/13 season – having scored goals for fun with amateur outfit Lepton Highlanders in the defunct West Riding County Amateur League.

Under Darren Hepworth’s guidance, Flynn got 41 goals which attracted attention and he moved onto ambitious Shaw Lane in the summer of 2013, with whom he won promotion out of Division One.

He did try his hand at NPL football with Frickley Athletic in 2014, but it did not work out.

It was his return to Emley in 2014 which helped triggered his now never-ending goal spurt. Seventy-four goals during the 2015/16 campaign earned him a special achievement award from the NCEL.

He stayed loyal to Emley, despite continual interest, but was unable to taste promotion with them.

A second promotion finally came with Leeds-based Yorkshire Amateur last year after joining them in 2017.

Apart from the injury-hit 2014/15 season (15 goals) with Emley, Flynn has never scored less than 28 times in a campaign.
