‘FA to meet to discuss season’

The FA

Reports suggest the FA are to meet this week to discuss what to do with the season in light of the latest national lockdown.

Even if Steps 3 to 6 football was allowed to resume in March, the hopes of completing seasons by the end of May would be implausible – even with the most rigorous schedule ever faced by clubs.

The Steps 5 to 6 leagues met on Saturday and the alliance committee is meeting this week ahead of an FA Council.

One suggestion that would appease a lot of clubs would be freezing the season and look to restart it in August without the need of the nuclear null and void option.

That was suggested by the North West Counties chairman Paul Lawlor whose league has clubs who have only played three times.
