Hemsworth ban lone ranger

Toolstation NCEL Premier Division

Hemsworth Miners Welfare have banned the lone ranger who caused the abandonment of the match with Penistone Church in Fitzwilliam on Saturday.

Trouble flared up in the 71st minute following the dismissals of Kane Swinburn and Penistone striker Kieran Ryan.

Up until then the game had been a relatively easy one to referee.

Ryan was set upon by one spectator as he entered the tunnel – leading to two minutes of mayhem as several Penistone players rushed to their team-mates’ aid.

Tensions simmered extremely quickly but the referee abandoned the match straightaway.

“On yesterday’s incident during our match with Penistone Church, HMWFC does not condone such behaviour of one fan,” Hemsworth said in a statement.

“The fan in question is not a regular to our games and will not be welcome at the club at any time in the future.

“We apologise to anyone who had to witness the incident.

“We believe this has punished our club from securing another much needed three points.

“After reading comments from both managers, we sincerely hope that the league re arrange the fixture for the not too distant future.”
