Craig Elliott says that Shaw Lane Aquaforce are just one player away from being ready for the Toolstation NCEL Premier Division kick off on August 9th.
Elliott added a further six players to the books at Shaw Lane this week, but he remains on the lookout for one final quality addition.
“I think I just have one more signing to make and then I’m done,” said Elliott, whose side won 5-2 at Hemsworth Miners Welfare last night.
“I want it to be the right player and I’m in talks with one at the moment.
“I hope I can make that happen, but I know there are some big clubs after him as well.
“If it’s not him, it will be someone else. We need one more player and I know what sort of character and area we need.
“There’s still plenty of time before the season starts so it is nice to be in a position so early that I have my squad almost sorted.”
Elliott has sorted his goalkeeping situation out by recruiting Jamie Bailey (Maltby Main) and Brett Souter – the pair replace Jamie Green.
He has taken left-back David Buck, who was unavailable for the Hemsworth friendly, from Armthorpe Welfare along with experienced striker Adam Lee.
The final signing is cultured centre-half Richard Haigh. Haigh played at Worksop Parramore and then Stocksbridge Park Steels last season.
“We’re covered in most areas and have some good options,” he added.
“Brett is a really good up-and-coming lad who League clubs were looking at.
“Jamie Bailey has been recognised as one of the best goalkeepers in the league for four or five years.
“He’s always done well at Maltby and he’s a player I tried to take to Ossett.
“Richard Haigh is a strong no nonsense defender who I think most teams would want in our Division.”
