Retford United have upped the stakes ahead of tomorrow’s crucial battle with rejuvenated Nostell Miners Welfare.

Nostell’s 2-0 win over Albion Sports sent Retford to the bottom of the Toolstation NCEL Premier Division table – something unheard of in recent memory.

Paul Ward has responded by making three signings.

Armthorpe Welfare captain Craig Morley has arrived and will take up one of the two centre-half positions.

Morley recently returned from one of the NCEL’s mandatory 112 day ban for players accumulating more than ten games in suspensions over two years.

Former Shaw Lane Aquaforce goalkeeper Jamie Green is the second new recruit – only a few days after his two game stand-in appearances at Frickley Athletic.

Winterton Rangers striker Josh Batty has also joined Ward’s bid to guide Retford to their first league since the 23th August.
