Frickley manager Karl Rose and his side face a tough semi-final tie at Handsworth

Last season’s beaten finalists Frickley Athletic face a tough test in the semi-finals of the Sheffield & Hallamshire Senior Cup.

Karl Rose’s Frickley will head to Toolstation NCEL Premier Division outfit Handsworth Parramore before the end of March to fight for a trip to Hillsborough.

The competition has been dogged by a serious of problems this season and there are a number of outstanding issues to resolved before the teams involved in the other semi-final are known.

Holders Athersley, who were initially thrown out in September before being reinstated, are yet to play Penistone Church in the third round.

The winner will face Maltby Main in the quarter-finals.

Someone will reach the semi-final and they will host the winner of Rossington Main and Nostell Miners Welfare.

Rossington have also enjoyed a bit of luck this season having being reinstated following the third round defeat to Worsbrough when the latter were caught for fielding ineligible players.

Rossington were then drawing 0-0 with Nostell earlier this week before the quarter-final was abandoned because of floodlight failure.
