Connor Bower was the destroyer of Farsley AFC as Ossett Albion beat the Evo Stik Division One North play-offs hopefuls 2-1.

Albion started the better of the two sides and put pressure on the Farsley defence for the first 15 minutes.

During this period a long ball forward found Bower who headed the ball on and then shot for goal. Tom Taylor, the Farsley goalkeeper, got his hands to the ball, but couldn’t prevent it from rolling into the net.

Albion were playing well but gradually Farsley hauling themselves back into the game. Albion striker Nicky Matthews was denied by Taylor, while Farsley had the ball in the Albion net but it was ruled off-side.

In the 27th minute Albion attacked down the right and Bower put the ball into the centre for Adam Muller, but the Albion forward fell over and the chance had gone.

Brett Souter in the Albion goal made two good saves to maintain the home side’s lead.

Bower then ran on to another long ball and scored his second to give Albion a two goal cushion at the interval.

Within five minutes of the restart Bower had to be substituted due to a knock he had received in the closing stages of the first half.

Within a minute Albion also lost central defender Lewis Trice with an injury and Farsley increased the presure on the home side.

In the 77th minute Farsley attacked down the right and the ball was put across from the bye-line. Souter got a hand to the ball but could only push it out to Mikey Aspin who slotted it into the net.

Souter made further good saves to keep Albion in front, but the Albion’s task was made harder when former Farsley defender Wes Milnes was sent off for a second yellow card.

Albion dug deep and held on to claim all three points, but if they’d taken all their chances they could have been out of sight by half-time.
