New NCEL season preview – Handsworth

Toolstation NCEL Premier Division

Handsworth Parramore F.C.

Handsworth took eventual champions Tadcaster Albion to the wire in a pulsating title race. Because all their top players have remained at Sandy Lane, Handsworth look a good bet for the title this time around.

Handsworth Parramore manager Mick Godber expects an even tougher battle for the title this season.

Godber believes as many as ten are in the race.

“The expectations are the same as last year, do the best we can,” Godber told Non League Yorkshire.

“Everybody is saying ‘Handsworth will win this, Handsworth will win that’, but Handsworth is just Handsworth.

“Everybody is going to say we’re favourites because we finished second. But, like I said to you last year, I wasn’t far off with what I said in terms of who were going to be in the top six.

“I think that top six will be down to top ten this year and I think it will be a lot stronger. There’s Mansfield, Bottesford. Hemsworth will be a surprise.

“Maltby have improved, so have Bridlington. Put it this way, I don’t think anyone will 94 points because Cleethorpes will be there or there abouts. It is going to be a hard season.

“I think it will be a lot tighter. We finished second and we are there to be shot at, we know that.”

Kieran Wells suspended for the first few games.
