Nicky Darker has signed for Frickley Athletic

Frickley Athletic have re-signed Jameel Ible and also added experienced Non League footballer Nicky Darker to their squad.

The double signing continues the major overhaul of the Frickley squad for next season.

Centre-back Ible, a popular figure at Westfield Lane, played for Scarborough last season. Darker arrives from Spencer Fearn’s old club Maltby Main. He has turned out for the likes of Stocksbridge Park Steels, Goole AFC and Belper Town in the past.

“We have two more excellent additions to add to the signings of Jake (Hazel) and Danny (Swales) so far this week,” Fearn said.

“The fans will all know about Jameel’s quality and it’s great he has chosen to come back to us at Westfield Lane from Scarborough where had had another impressive season. He will be a very important player for us for sure.

“In Nicky we have a player who has spent most of his career in midfield, but has of late converted to a centre back where he has been excellent. He is competitive, technically very good and was a fans favourite with his style of play at his previous club.”
