Greaves and Knowles take caretaker charge of Ossett

Tom Greaves and James Knowles are to take caretaker control of Ossett United for at least three weeks while the club identity a long-term replacement for Andy Welsh.

The club’s senior players were installed on Tuesday morning following the departure of Welsh on Sunday.

Greaves was formerly the player/manager of FC United of Manchester so is well-equipped for the job. Knowles is a very experienced football coach is well-suited as well.

Chairman Phil Smith said. “It is anticipated that the process for a new manager will take 3 to 4 weeks and during that time the club is in very safe hands with Tom and James.

“We will be looking for a manager to come in, understand our ambitions and current plans, and implement their own style into the dressing room. We have already received enquiries and this open application period will continue for the rest of this week and next.”
