Nephew of 2002 FA Cup hero joins Railway

Jimmy Gore has joined Harrogate Railway

Jimmy Gore, the nephew of 2002 FA Cup hero Jimmy Gore, has joined Harrogate Railway to some game-time.

The attacking midfielder joins ahead of the trip to Ollerton Town along with striker Marcus Day.

He is the son of one of the Tadcaster owners Matt.

His uncle who he shares the same name with, played for Railway during the unforgettable run to the FA Cup second round in 2002 under Paul Marshall which ended with the club playing League One side Bristol City live on Sky Sports.

Mick O’Connell said: “His work rate is superb and again he’s everything we look for in a player, he’s young, hungry and looking to progress his career and we can give him the platform to do so.

“We’re delighted to sign Jimmy, he had a good pre-season with Tadcaster but unfortunately broke his hand, forcing him out the team.

“He has come to Railway for the game time he craves.

“He’s got great quality in the final third.”

He is the second relative of a 2002 FA Cup hero to sign for Railway this season behind Jamie Danby whose father Nigel was one of the centre-half lynchpins during that era.
