Railway sign ex-Sedge attacker

Toolstation NCEL Division One

New Harrogate Railway winger Rhys Davies

Former Liversedge attacker Rhys Davies has joined Mick O’Connell’s Harrogate Railway.

The signing was rubber-stamped hours before Railway’s midweek trip to Teversal but he is not expected to be involved.

Davies, who can play out-wide or upfront was playing for league rivals Hallam but has moved close to Railway’s Station View home.

He is best known for his time with ‘Sedge but he has also played for Worksop Town, Frickley Athletic and most recently Hallam.

“We are delighted to get Rhys over the line, Rhys comes with great pedigree and is a proven goal scorer at this level, he will add depth to our attack and is alway a threat with his pace.

“We will hopefully have Rhys involved on Saturday.”

Davies added: “I’ve had a tough time the last couple years with a leg injury and COVID and so I was pleased that Mick got in touch.

“I don’t live far from Harrogate and I know a few of the boys from my time at uni.

“I want to get back playing and I want to get this team back to the Premier Division, maybe now I can score for them rather than against them.”
