Non League Yorkshire

Vote for your NLY manager of the year

Non League Yorkshire

Take Our Poll

The season is not quite over, but Non League Yorkshire’s manager of the year vote is open.

The managers are chosen from Non League Yorkshire’s covered leagues – the Evo Stik and the NCEL.

Nearly 1000 votes were cast last year so it is likely that the 2016 vote will be a close-run contest.

Voting will close on Monday 9th May at 11.59pm.

There was plenty of competition for the top six. Among the strong contenders who have missed out were Paul Marshall, Gary Allanson, Ian Richards, Paul Stansfield, Ryan Hindley and Darren Hepworth.

Here are the chosen six candidates.

Maltby Main joint managers Mark Askwith (left) and Spencer Fearn (right)

Mark Askwith & Spencer Fearn (Maltby Main)

The pair have guided Maltby to their highest finish in over 20 years. Maltby also enjoyed their best runs in the FA Cup and Vase for a long time.

Hemsworth Miners Welfare manager Wayne Benn

Wayne Benn (Hemsworth Miners Welfare)

The winner of the 2014-15 vote went one better this year by leading Hemsworth to the Toolstation NCEL Division One title.

Chris Hilton (Stocksbridge Park Steels)

Stocksbridge didn’t make the play-offs, but they did go on an extraordinary FA Trophy run. The Steels were underdogs in every single Trophy game they played, but they managed to beat holders North Ferriby, Ilkeston FC, Northwich Victoria and Clitheroe before bowing out at Gateshead.

Tadcaster Albion manager Billy Miller

Billy Miller (Tadcaster Albion)

Miller dropped down a level by leaving Harrogate Railway to join Tadcaster Albion last year. The move  has worked as Miller led Tadcaster to the Toolstation NCEL Premier Division title at the first attempt.

Frickley Athletic manager Karl Rose

Karl Rose (Frickley Athletic)

Frickley Athletic brushed off their perennial strugglers tag after finishing seventh – their highest finish for ten years.

Ossett Albion manager Richard Tracey

Richard Tracey (Ossett Albion)

Ossett surprised many early in the season after climbing to third. They also won the Evo Stik club of the month awards for November and December. Albion also claimed the position of being the top club in Ossett for the first time in a while.
