Vote for your NLY manager of the year

The season is not quite over, but Non League Yorkshire’s manager of the year vote is open.

The managers are chosen from Non League Yorkshire’s covered leagues – the Evo Stik and the NCEL.

Nearly 1000 votes were cast last year so it is likely that the 2016 vote will be a close-run contest.

Voting will close on Monday 9th May at 11.59pm.

There was plenty of competition for the top six. Among the strong contenders who have missed out were Paul Marshall, Gary Allanson, Ian Richards, Paul Stansfield, Ryan Hindley and Darren Hepworth.

Here are the chosen six candidates.

Stocksbridge didn’t make the play-offs, but they did go on an extraordinary FA Trophy run. The Steels were underdogs in every single Trophy game they played, but they managed to beat holders North Ferriby, Ilkeston FC, Northwich Victoria and Clitheroe before bowing out at Gateshead.

Tadcaster Albion manager Billy Miller

Miller dropped down a level by leaving Harrogate Railway to join Tadcaster Albion last year. The move  has worked as Miller led Tadcaster to the Toolstation NCEL Premier Division title at the first attempt.

Frickley Athletic brushed off their perennial strugglers tag after finishing seventh – their highest finish for ten years.

  1. Other than Karl at frickley others were expected to do well with one exception. Maltby main managers, what a job and its there first season at this level. They get my vote

  2. Well done to all those nominated and credit goes to each one of you. My vote goes to Karl Rose at Frickley, who has done a fantastic job finishing 7th with a limited budget in a very competitive league.

  3. Billy Miller has assembled and managed a fantastically successful squad of players who play football with style, flair and passion. He leads by example and works incredibly hard to ensure that everyone connected with the club (especially the fans) are fully appreciated and made to feel a vital part of the team.

  4. good to see so many ex frickley players now plying their trade as managers. not being biased i vote for rosey, he has shown what can be done against some big rollers in non league. well done karl and all at frickley.

  5. Billy Miller all day, considering the on and off the pitch situations and distractions, he and his team have overcome so much to achieve top spot and promotion.

  6. Billy Miller, saw the vision at Tadcaster, built a squad capable of playing his brand of football and delivered what was expected – the championship

  7. Billy Miller an outstanding guy friendly with everyone great manager takes tadcaster Albion up to evo stick league, as CHAMPIONS after so many close calls over the last three years he has got us there in his first season at the club,a top man

  8. Benno at the Wells all day long, shoe string budget and a side top heavy with youngsters, a truly remarkable achievement.

    1. Karl Rose all day long, 77 pts and 7th in league with a budget probably in bottom 4 or 5 and against the giants of Darlo and Salford, also kept Frickley up previous 3 years against the odds and has built year on year, no disrespect to the other nominees but Rosey has done it in a far superior league , the lad Miller has had bags of cash to do it a Tadcaster take nothing away but it was expected, Tracey at Ossett and Hilton at Stocky nothing special had ok seasons probably about where they expected to be, Benn at Hemsworth fair enough but in a poor league see how he fairs in premier division next season, the 2 lads at Maltby again had an OK season about where they expected, i would go 1.Rose 2. Benn 3. Miller

  9. Karl rose
    Done a great job
Led frickley to a great league finish n to a sheff senior cup final .

  10. where is Craig Elliott? oh thats right he has blown the biggest budget in the league but blamed tiredness
