Career Highlight

Making my Conference North debut for North Ferriby away at York on Boxing Day. In front of a massive crowd, I’d jumped up quite a few leagues so it was big thing for me at the time.

Most Memorable Game

The League Cup final for Scarborough vs Marine. we ended up losing the game but the atmosphere was probably the best I’ve played in.

Lowest moment in football

North Ferriby celebrating an FA Vase win last year

I think most recently at North Ferriby. We was in great form in the FA Vase, we had just beaten West Auckland 4-0 and was just two games from Wembley and we unfortunately got kicked out of the competition.

Biggest regret in football

I try not to have too many regrets but I think looking back, I had a couple of separate opportunities to go abroad to play and I turned them down at the time!

Funniest moment in football

It’s really tough to pick a specific moment to be fair! I’m going to have to give a bit of a generic answer and just say a coach journey back from a long away game after a win, you can’t beat them!

First semi-professional manager

Mick Gray – Brigg Town. I was with Mick at Grimsby Town so he helped a lot in transitioning from youth to men’s football by giving me a chance at Brigg when I was 16.

Non League Debut

Jamie Forrester during his Selby days

My first game in Non League that I remember was against Scunthorpe for Brigg in a friendly, I was actually offered a trial at Scunthorpe after the game. I can’t quite remember my first competitive game but it was also at Brigg!

First Red Card in Non League

It was only a couple of years ago at Scarborough, it was actually after the whistle, I’m not sure I was in the wrong too much but there was a few handbags after the game and i was one of the players that got the red for it!

First and Best Non League Goal

Jamie Forrester pictured during a a game where he scored a wonderful goal in Bridlington’s 4-2 win over Bottesford

My first goal could probably be up there with my best to be fair, it was a volley for Appleby Frodingham against Rossington from about 30 yards, it couldn’t have gone more in the top corner! But I think the goal I scored for Scarborough in the North Riding Senior Cup will probably be my best, just really for how far out it was!

What do you want to achieve in football in the future?

I think a big thing is adding some trophies to the collection, as well as still playing as high as I can in the football pyramid.

Favourite Non League Ground

FC United of Manchester, the atmosphere is unbelievable

If you have enjoyed reading Non League Yorkshire over the past few months, please consider making a donation to the not-for-profit organisation NLY Community Sport which provides sport for children and adults with disabilities and learning difficulties. CLICK HERE to visit the JustGiving page. There is a video at the bottom of the page showing our work.

NLY Community Sport, run by James Grayson and Connor Rollinson, has always had combatting social isolation at the top of our objectives when running our Disability Football teams.

Our work is playing an important role in reintroducing our players, who have disabilities and learning difficulties, back into society.

We have six teams, a mixture of Junior and Adult teams – Nostell MW DFC, Pontefract Pirates, Selby Disability Football Club and the South Yorkshire Superheroes (Barnsley) – across Yorkshire.

We have enjoyed great success over the past three years. Several of our players have represented Mencap GB in Geneva, including Billy Hobson from Selby and Greg Smith, whose story is quite inspiring.

You can learn more about the organisation HERE and on our Facebook page.

Watch the video below to see highlights from our three years as an organisation. The video was produced for our players at the end of March to remind them of good memories from the last three years.
