Scarborough Athletic have announced that Jimmy Ghaichem has left the club and signed for Toolstation NCEL Division One promotion chasers AFC Mansfield on a long-term contract.

The move sees Ghaicham link up with former Seadogs manager Rudy Funk, who took charge of the Bulls last November.

He adds a new dimension to Mansfield, who will host Tadcaster Albion in the eagerly-anticipated FA Vase fifth round tie.

He leaves Scarborough two days after his sending-off in the 3-2 win at Burscough for a second bookable offence after taking a quick free kick.

The 30 year-old started his career as a trainee with Mansfield Town before joining his hometown club Sheffield Wednesday.

He then moved on to Peterborough United, making three appearances and being loaned to Rushden and Diamonds, before being released at the end of the 2007-2008 season.

He then had spells with Harrogate town and Ilkeston Town before moving to Scarborough in 2011.

He will be perhaps be best remembered by Seadogs supporters for his wonder goal against fellow title-chasers Tadcaster Albion at the back end of the 2011-2012 season.

Ghaichem then moved on to Frickley Athletic where his heroics were needed again, as his goal against Worksop on the final day of the 2012-2013 season ensured Frickley avoided relegation.

He returned to Scarborough at the start of the 2014-2015 season, and has made 19 appearances for the Seadogs this season.

Ghaichem could make his debut for Mansfield as soon as tomorrow as Mansfield play Shirebrook Town in a top of the table clash.

Shirebrook will go top if they win.
