Guiseley gained their first point of the season at the eighth time of asking after drawing with Braintree Town at Nethermoor.

Jonny Maxted made his debut for Guiseley after joining on loan from Forest Green Rovers earlier in the week, he was made to work early on when Craig Braham-Barrett showed a turn of pace and tried to get to a long pass, but the keeper got off his line quickly to clear the ball away.

The home side looked bright and produced some good passing moves, with their first chance falling to Jordan Preston who was found in the area and on the angle he drove an effort just wide.

Before the match there was a heavy downpour, this continued for much of the first half and contributed to the lack of clear cut chances that were being produced by either team.

Just before half-time a hopeful ball forward was picked up by Preston and the former Blackburn Rovers attacked on the edge of the area hit an effort, Braintree keeper Sam Beasant got a touch on it and it hit the post, with the home side so close to opening the scoring.

While Guiseley edged the opening half, Braintree started brightly with Jake Goodman being found in a good position his effort took a deflection off Jake Lawlor and went wide.

Guiseley were forced into a change when Oil Johnson came off with a knock, this meant Luke Porritt came on and his pace caused the away side problems.

Both sides who have so far struggled to pick up points, were not able to create many much either during the remainder of the second half, with both cancelling each other out and it ended 0-0
