John Cyrus has left Frickley to join Altrincham
Frickley Athletic defender John Cyrus has joined National North outfit Altrincham after two seasons at Westfield Lane.
It is a big move for Cyrus, who was only playing in Toolstation NCEL Division One in 2014. Cyrus initially wore the shirt of AFC Emley before moving to Shaw Lane Aquaforce to help them win promotion.
Karl Rose spotted his potential and the move paid dividends as Cyrus won Frickley’s supporters’ club player of the year in 2015. He had another solid year as Frickley surprised many by finishing seventh.
Cyrus said: “It’s very tough to leave as I love it at Frickley but I have to give it a go playing at a higher level. I wish the Club all the best for next season and beyond.”
