Gary Bradshaw’s recent hot-streak continued as Scarborough Athletic reached seventh heaven with a 4-0 win over Brigg Town at Queensgate.
Bradshaw scored a hat-trick in the emphatic victory which is Scarborough’s seventh Evo Stik Division One South win in a row.
The result lifts Rudy Funk’s side to ninth and they are now only three points below the play-offs.
Brigg started well, but Scarborough soon took control. Ryan Blott, Bradshaw, Ryan Williams and Matty Plummer all had chances before the deadlock was finally broken before half-time.
Peter Davidson managed to head Tom Davie’s cross past Brigg goalkeeper Jake Turner.
Bradshaw opened his account on the hour mark. A Chris Bolder attempt was parried and Bradshaw was on hand to score.
The legendary North Ferriby United striker scored again courtesy of beating the offside trap which allowed him to slide the ball past Turner.
Bradshaw completed his hat-trick with a penalty in the last minute. He has now scored eight goals in four league appearances.
Thackley suffered a huge blow in their pursuit of the Toolstation NCEL Premier Division title. Dave Morgan and Lee Clapham’s side were beaten 4-0 at fellow title rivals Barton Town Old Boys.
This week Johnny Slater, Luke Thompson and Ryan Cooper (2) were on the score-sheet for Barton.
Pickering Town beat Armthorpe 3-0 – Josh Greening scored twice with Jimmy Beadle also scoring.
Shaw Lane Aquaforce tightened their grip on the Division One top spot with an incredible 11-2 annihilation of Louth Town.
Ashley Flynn, Steven McDonnell and Danny Frost all got hat-tricks. Duane Grace and Luke Danville helped add to Louth’s misery.
A Paul Sykes wonder-goal earned AFC Emley a 1-1 draw at Worsbrough Bridge – a point that moves them up a place to 11th.
It was a night of drama at Brighouse on Tuesday as Paul Quinn’s men drew 3-3 with Whickham in the FA Vase third round.
After Ryan Hall’s goal put Brighouse 2-1 up, the NCEL Premier side were all set to go through until a last minute Whickham equaliser sent the game to extra-time.
Tom Matthews scored to put Brighouse in front again, but Whickham levelled again to ensure a replay. The sides will meet again at Whickham next Tuesday.
Two late goals sent Eccleshill United through in the NCEL League Cup first round 2-1 win over Cleethorpes Town – Ishmeal Mills and Alex Brisbane were the heroes.
Athersley Recreation needed a penalty shootout to progress to the Sheffield and Hallamshire Senior Cup semi-finals.
Athersley drew 2-2 with Houghton Main after extra-time with Craig Fletcher and Robert Cartwright scoring. The Rec then held their nerve to win 6-5 on penalties.
Jake Picton and Luke Hinsley scored as Frickley Athletic comfortably won 2-0 at Handsworth.
Parkgate lost 2-1 against Oughtibridge.
