One more victory for Nostell Miners Welfare will be enough to ensure their Toolstation NCEL Premier Division after a 1-0 win at Parkgate.

Three points against second bottom Retford United at Crofton on Thursday night will leave their visitors and Glasshoughton Welfare with an impossible task.

Nostell, on a high after the Sheffield & Hallamshire Senior Cup semi-final victory at Maltby Main, created early chances, but it took until the half-hour mark for the breakthrough.

A speculative effort from outside the box took a wicked bounce in front of Parkgate goalkeeper Jamie Bailey and the ball fell to James Kitson who couldn’t miss.

Nostell goalkeeper Ben Saynor had to be relied on to keep his side ahead as he had to pull off another excellent save from an Oliver Graham effort.

The one goal proved to be all Paul Lines’ men needed to complete a brilliant few days.
