Shaw Lane Aquaforce chairman Craig Wood thanked Simon Houghton for his hard work
Shaw Lane Aquaforce have finally issued a statement confirming the sacking of Simon Houghton – 24 hours after revealing his exit via Twitter.
Houghton departed the promotion-chasing side yesterday after four defeats in six games and a statement by chairman Craig Wood said: “Following Saturday’s defeat at Dinnington, the club have made a decision to part company with manager Simon Houghton.
“We feel that a fresh impetus is required if we are to maintain our promotion challenge.
“We would like to thank Simon for his hard work and commitment and wish him all the best for the future.
“Director of Football Doug O’Connor will take temporary charge of first team affairs until a new manager is appointed.
