Farsley AFC chief Neil Parsley has given his reaction to the news of Paddy Miller’s departure to Bradford (Park Avenue).
The former Scarborough Athletic defender made the surprise move to Horsfall Stadium yesterday after an excellent debut season at Throstle Nest.
The centre-half won the supporters’ player of the year last month and Parsley told Sports Performer: “We agreed a deal with Paddy and we shook hands on it.
“But BPA came in and made contact and Paddy has decided to give it a go at a higher level.
“I am greatly disappointed as we were looking for players in other positions. There was strong interest from Droylsden and after speaking to them, Paddy chose to give it another shot with us.
“But he’s had a change of heart and gone to BPA.”
Parsley now has to fill the void left by Miller with only 15 days left until pre-season begins at the Nest.
Midfielder Lewis Nightingale, who previously played for the club in the 2010-11 glory season, has already agreed to return and Parsley expects to recruit at least four more new faces.
“Because of the Leeds debacle, it looks like we have missed out on a friendly because they haven’t got back to us,” he added.
“We’re speaking to players ahead of us coming back to train on July 1st.
“I don’t expect wholesale changes, but we’ll still have three or four players coming in.
“Lewis Nightingale will be a good addition for us. We now need a centre-half, a midfielder and a striker to replace Lee Ellington who has retired.”
