With just five days until the big Toolstation NCEL Premier Division kick off, Garforth Town manager Graham Nicholas has added to his squad.
Four players – Isa Mohammed, Dominic Hackney, Jay Davis and Connor Johnson – have put pen-to-paper ahead of the opening day fixture with Parkgate at Wheatley Park.
Mohammed is a versatile player who will be used as a full-back by Garforth.
Johnson is described as “a great addition to the squad” by Nicholas, but is dual-registered with Gainsborough Trinity.
Midfielder Davis is one player Nicholas wanted to sign. Davis shone in the spectacular 4-3 win over Farsley AFC last week – scoring one and providing the assist for the winning goal.
The final signing is Hackney and he’s a Nicholas has known for many years.
The Garforth boss has trimmed his squad down as centre-half Jamie Hainsworth is heading to Yorkshire Amateur.
Stocksbridge Park Steels have also made a host of new signings.
Chris Hilton has just under two more weeks to prepare his side for the Evo Stik Division One South season opener at Norton United.
Hilton has added young striker Korey Dyer-Stewart, the nephew of former Barnsley forward Bruce Dyer.
Also signing are Will Senior, Harrison Biggins and Johnny Irvine. Danny Joynes, the younger brother of striker Nathan, and highly-rated left-sided player Liam Schofield have also put pen-to-paper.
Schofield finished last season at Ossett Albion, but is best known for his time with AFC Emley.
Evo Stik Premier Divison side Frickley Athletic have signed two more new faces.
Twenty-seven year old Matt Knowles who played for Droylsden last season and Sam Jones have signed.
Also registering are the club’s coaches – manager Karl Rose, Lee Stratford and goalkeeper Jon Hood.
