Chris Millington is excited at the prospect at managing Clipstone in their first ever FA Cup game tomorrow.
Clipstone will entertain Harrowby United tomorrow in the Extra Preliminary Round – the club’s first foray into the competition in their 86-year history.
Millington told Non League Yorkshire: “It means the world.
“It was a massive achievement for a club like Clipstone to finish the highest they ever have in the football pyramid last season.
“To enter the FA Cup is an excellent achievement.
“Everybody loves the FA Cup. You see it as a kid and everybody involved in football watches the Cup Final.
“It is great manage a team in the FA Cup. Finacially it is great.
“We run a really tight club here and we don’t rely on the income to keep us afloat.
“We have a great chairman and committee who manage the finances in a great way, but for the playing experience, we want to go as far as we can in it.”
Millington, who was given the Clipstone job in the summer, has enjoyed a good start to life in the dugout.
His side beat Dronfield last Saturday and then Yorkshire Amateur in midweek in the Toolstation NCEL Division One schedule so Millington is very happy.
“We’ve had two wins on the bounce and it just gives us a great start and takes us into the FA Cup against Harrowby with a bit of confidence,” he said.
“The aim this season is top eight. The club had a tremendous season last year finishing seventh so if we can emulate that and qualify for the FA Cup again, that would be massive.”
