Paul Marshall claims Tadcaster Albion aren’t in fifth gear and is adamant the Toolstation NCEL Premier Division hasn’t seen the best of his side yet.
Taddy make the trip to Handsworth Parramore tomorrow for the most exciting league fixture of the day.
Marshall, who is without suspended Carl Stewart and injured midfielder Tom Claisse, has overseen a number of recent signings including Claisse and goalkeeper Tom Morgan.
He said: “It’s been ok (the start), but we’re not quite there yet.
“We’re only 75% to where we should be. There’s more to come, definitely.
“We improved last year after a poor start so I’m expecting the same this year.
“We have brought some quality players in (recently).
“The club is moving forward and people have to move forward with it or they’ll get left behind.
“We’re attracting attention and we’re one of the favourites.
“Every-time you read an article, they always say that Taddy will be up there.
“There’s no getting away from it, the expectations are high.”
Marshall is downplaying the importance of the Handsworth fixture on the season as a whole.
He said: “It’s a big game and they’re one of the favourites with Heanor, Shaw Lane, us and Brid.
“Like I’ve said before, I think it is down to about six teams who I think will run away.
“It will be tough like any game. We don’t expect any easy games.
“We just have to play better. They have a nice pitch so we have to get the ball down and play.”
Midfielder Richard Batley has left this week and Marshall admits he may look to sign another striker.
Stewart is banned for the next few weeks because of a red card picked up on a Sunday morning last season.
