Farsley AFC 3-4 Mossley (report by Thomas Ritchie)

Mossley produced a smash and grab victory over Farsley – coming back from 3-2 down to win thanks to two injury time goals from Mitchell Bryant and Josh Granite.
Mossley took the lead against the run of play when Dean Warburton beat two players before firing into the bottom corner from 25 yards out.
Moments before half-time Farsley got a deserved equaliser when Adam Priestley’s shot was well saved, before James Riley tucked the rebound home.
Just after half time Mossley almost retook the lead when Ryan Barrow played a long ball through to Mitch Bryant who fired over.
Farsley went ahead when Lewis Nightingale also hit the crossbar moments later, however on this occasion St Juste was waiting to lash the ball home.
Mossley then got an equaliser when Tom Dean scrambled the ball into the net following a free-kick.
Marcus Edwards thought he had won it for Farsley when he slotted the ball past the keeper with less than a minute to go, however there was to be five minutes of added time.
Two minutes into added time Dean Warburton’s effort fell to the feet of Mitch Bryant who scored.
With the five minutes of added time up Mossley won a corner and Josh Granite headed the ball home to seal a last gasp victory for Mossley, that sparked jubilant celebrations in the visitors’ dugout.

Northwich Victoria 1-1 Ossett Town

A late equaliser from substitute Joe O’Neill earned Ossett a deserved point.
Ossett had a string of chances during the first half. Northwich goalkeeper Tim Deasy had to make saves from Chris Wood, Rob Bordman and in the second half from Josh Whiteley.
Northwich started to mount pressure on Ossett midway through the second 45 minutes.
Jim Gannon’s side took the lead when Mo Ali headed home.
Ossett’s equaliser was fortunate. Ali’s backpass bobbled in front of Deasy and O’Neill capitalised on the mistake to score.

Ossett Albion 2-0 Clitheroe

Clitheroe started to apply pressure on the home defence from the very first minute and Albion were struggling to cope for much of the first half. The visitors played with width and spread the ball quickly and accurately but were unable to create any real chances.
Just before the half hour mark the ball came to an unmarked Clitheroe forward on the right. Fortunately for Albion he shot wide with a first-time shot when he had time to bring the ball down and under control.
Albion seemed unable to hold the ball up in midfield or to clear their lines and yet somehow they reached half-time on level terms.
Albion came out for the second half with more pace and determination and they began to cause the Clitheroe defence some problems.
In the 54th minute Luke Richardson got the ball forward to Conor McDonagh who beat a defender and threaded his shot past Matthew Green in the Clitheroe goal.
This seemed to fill the home team with confidence and they continued to run at the Clitheroe defence and cause problems. For a while the game became open with both sides full of running, but gradually Albion started to drop deeper and it seemed as though it would only be a matter of time before Clitheroe got an equaliser.
The introduction of Dale Kelly for David Brown gave Albion fresh impetus and if Kelly had been luckier he could have wrapped the game up. Instead he fired one chance into the side-netting and hit another over the bar.
Then with the final whistle getting nearer, a poor clearance came to Connor Brunt on the right-hand edge of the penalty area. He kept his cool and fired his shot across the goalkeeper to bring sighs of relief from the home supporters.

Prescot Cables 2-2 Harrogate Railway

It was an entertaining first half as Prescot created lots of chances but somehow only managed to test goalkeeper Karl Dean on a couple of occasions.
The first on 5 minutes when Dean raced off his line to make two great saves. In the 6th minute cables hit the post with a curling shot that bounced to safety.
Railway created their first chance on ten minutes when a Lawrence Hunter corner was hit deeply, Mike Morris was there to head back across goal and Coates’ shot was well blocked by the Cables Goalkeeper.
Prescot turned the screw but were unable to find the net. Railway, however, took the lead after having some good possession, and man of match Morris headed home a Hunter corner on 44 minutes to give Railway a lead into the break.
The second half started a bit more level and it was Railway who created the best chance of the early exchanges as Rob Youhill won possession and flicked the ball to Adam Baker whose first time volley was expertly tipped around the post.
On 61 minutes Cables gained a deserved equaliser, after good play down the right the ball was played into Matthew West who curled his shot into the corner of the goal.
Railway regained the lead on 76 minutes after excellent work again by Youhill. The wing wizard played in Nathan Cartman whose squared pass found Lamin Colley. Colley’s turn and shot found the bottom corner.
Railway then seemed to sit on their lead and as the game ticked away, they seemed to defend deeper and in the fourth minute of injury time a corner was half cleared and Sam Corlett curled a shot through a crowd into the goal to gain Cables a point.

Then in the final five minutes, Billy Law and Luke Hinsley snatched all three points for Goole.

Stafford Rangers 4-0 Stocksbridge Park Steels

Despite a good start, it was an afternoon to forget for Chris Hilton’s men.
Steels almost took the lead after ten minutes when Lee Garside’s shot looked top corner bound but was saved well.
Stafford took the lead just before the half hour mark when debutant Stanley Mugisha robbed Martyn Scully of the ball and fired into the top corner.
The home side’s lead was doubled ten minutes later when his fellow debutant Liam Holt was given room in the box to control and fire his shot in on the turn.
Garside must have thought he had scored when he got a foot on Ryan Laight’s header back across the box but somehow put the ball over from a few yards.
The game became as good as over fifteen minutes from time when James Dance converted a penalty after Scully had tripped Mugisha.
Dan Cope pounced on a poor defensive clearance and hit a fierce strike in off the bar in the closing stages to round off a bad day for Steels.

Premier Division

Workington 1-1 Frickley Athletic

What a difference seven days makes.
After the FA Cup exit at Farsley, it was all doom and gloom at Frickley, but the message from Karl Rose was “keep believing” and his struggling side responded with four points.
Frickley rose from the bottom of the table with a win over FC United and they have followed it up with a point at Workington.
Midway through the second half, a long range attempt from Scott Allison put Workington.
Despite the blow, Frickley refused to fold like a pack of cards.
A cross by Sanchez Payne was met by Danny South and the striker secured a point with a fine header.

Frickley Athletic: Simpson, Stannard, Parkinson, Hornsey (Williams), Jeffs, Ible, Riley (Stratford), Young, South, Allott, Payne. Subs unused: Barnett, Davies, Rose.
