Paul Marshall has hailed Josh Greening’s remarkable goal-scoring form which has seen him score hat-tricks in three consecutive Toolstation NCEL Premier Division matches for Tadcaster Albion.
Greening upstaged his former Premier League midfielder brother Jonathan in Saturday’s 6-0 win over Maltby Main with another hat-trick.
That was on top of the treble he got at Handsworth Parramore ten days and the four goal haul against Retford United last Tuesday – strikes which have taken him to the top of the league goal-scorers’ list.
Marshall told Non League Yorkshire: “I’ve never known somebody score three hat-tricks in three games.
“I said to him: ‘go get us another hat-trick Josh’ and at half-time when he had scored one, I said: ‘there is easy another two goals for you’.
“He said: ‘I’ll take a win and the three points’.
“But, I thought to myself that he’s a boy full of confidence and it showed again.
“He’s outstanding skill, outstanding pace and great finishing.
“He’s not even playing as a centre-forward, he’s coming from the wings.
“But he’s the striker at the moment without a doubt.”
Despite seven consecutive league victories which have driven Taddy to the front-line of the battle for the title, Marshall still insists his side haven’t pulled into top gear.
Marshall, whose side travel to Thackley, said: “I think we are still at 85%.
“I don’t think we have moved from 85% because I don’t think we played as we did last Tuesday night for the first 45 minutes.
“It’s the strongest squad I’ve ever had anywhere. (Director) Jimmy Gore played for me at Harrogate Railway and we had a great squad of players, but not the quality we have got now.
“I don’t know if we have to add it to, but you never say never because you have to win every game to win this league.
“The complacency is going to be the hardest thing to manage now because we have a strong squad and we are expected to go and win every game.
“It is going to very difficult. But they have the mentality and they’ll all winners.”
Since the announcement of the signing of the older Greening on Thursday night, Taddy have had a whirlwind few days.
They have featured in national newspapers and radio and Marshall added: “I don’t think we have ever had as much publicity, that is for sure.
“(Supporter) Robin Derry said we were nearly trending on Twitter on Friday with the amount of people retweeting it.
“It’s great for the club.”
