Ossett Albion were unlucky not to come away from Seel Park with a much deserved point from the 1-0 defeat to Mossley in the Evo Stik Division One North.

The visitors played down the slope in the first half and, apart from one Connor Bower shot which was easily saved by the Mossley goalkeeper, and one from the home side which rolled narrowly wide of the Albion goal, both defences coped comfortably with any threats that the opposition created.

The second half provided much the same fare with both defences dominating.

The game changed on 51 minutes when the Referee awarded a free kick against Steve Nicholson.

From the resulting free kick Mossley’s Jason Granite took advantage of the only hesitancy in the Albion defence all afternoon to head home.

This spurred Albion to more sustained attacking but they were unable to breach the well-marshalled Mossley defence.

The nearest Albion came to scoring was when, after a flowing length of the field move, Pat Lindley miscued his shot and Kane Reece had his follow-up shot well saved by the Mossley goalkeeper.

Ossett Albion: Souter, Nicholson, Hardaker (Walker), Riordan, Milnes, Taylor (Lindley), Reece, Sharry, Muller (McDonagh), Bower, Matthews. Sub unused: Jones.
Referee: Daniel Hitchell
Attendance: 102
