The West Riding County Cup semi-final between Bradford (Park Avenue) and Tadcaster Albion is set to be replayed.

Tadcaster claimed late last night that the game will be played again at the i2i Sports Stadium, but the West Riding County FA or Avenue are yet to confirm that.

It is understood that Avenue’s Alex Pursehouse was ineligible to play in their 3-2 victory last month.

The match which was moved to Tadcaster at Avenue’s request should have been played on 10th February, but it was postponed close to kick-off because of fog.

Pursehouse signed for Avenue the following day from Worksop Town and was in the starting line-up when the game was re-arranged for the following Monday.

The rules are understood to say that a player has to be eligible for the original scheduled fixture, if it is postponed.

Avenue’s migitation was that their secretary Colin Barker had received verbal confirmation that Pursehouse could play from a senior County official.

No date has been set for the replay so it means Garforth Town will have to wait a bit longer to find out the identity of their fellow finalists.

It gives Tadcaster the chance of rekindling their hopes of winning the quadruple.

  1. What a load of rubbish, Tadcaster must be desperate. BPA rec’d clearance from a county official to play Pursehouse, Tadcaster having already benefited from BPA supporters from a pre-season friendly then two county cup games should be Thankful, I’ll be make representations that we give them the game and refuse requests for any future pre-season friendliest.
