Title-chasing Salford City took their chances in their 3-0 win at Ossett Town in the Evo Stik Division One North.

The scores were goal-less at half-time, but Salford came quickly out of the blocks in the second half as the first goal arrived within four minutes.

Matthew Chadwick had time out on the left and sent over an excellent cross between Nick Wood and Joe Cheeseman, former Leeds United forward Danny Webber met the ball eight yards out and superbly controlled the ball past Brad Dixon.

Webber then hit the post before Ossett had a strong spell. Joe Brennan, who has been in great form since his arrival at Ossett, forced an excellent save from the Salford City.

Steve Jeff and then Josh Whiteley went close.

Salford eventually struck the killer blow as Nick Wood was sent off for bringing down Webber.

Jason Jarrett converted the penalty.

Ossett got a spot kick of their own, but Whiteley’s attempt was pulled just wide of the goalkeeper’s left post.

Grant Spencer scored Salford’s third goal with Manchester United legends Paul Scholes and Gary Neville watching on.
