Farsley AFC kept their Evo Stik Division One North play-off hopes alive after a 2-0 win over Clitheroe.

Clitheroe had the best chances of a scrappy first half and almost went ahead when Louis Mayers free-kick was well saved by Tom Taylor. Late on the half Sefton Gonzales saw his effort saved well by Taylor.

Just before the hour mark Farsley had a great chance to go in front when Ross Daly squared to Adam Priestley in the six yard box. Priestley’s effort was saved at point blank range by Alex Palfry.

Minutes later Farsley won a penalty when Aiden Savory was pulled back inside the box. Lewis Nightingale duly converted, smashing the ball into the top corner.

Substitute Andy Welsh doubled Farsley’s lead moments after with a spectacular, curling effort into the top corner leaving Palfry rooted to the spot.

Clitheroe almost pulled one back shortly after when Daniel Brady’s powerful header was brilliantly saved by Taylor.
