Stocksbridge Park Steels were unable to record back-to-back wins in the Evo Stik Division One South after a 2-1 defeat at Tividale.

Stockbridge fell behind in the first half after a Leigh Downing shot took a deflection off Rory Coleman and wrong-footed goalkeeper Peter Denton.

The visitors responded with vigour in the second half and the pressure on Tividale eventually told.

Coleman’s free kick levelled the game after Tividale goalkeeper Charlie Price mis-judged the flight of the ball.

The Steels then took the games to their hosts. Danny Critchlow went close and so did in-form striker Brad Grayson.

But, Stocksbridge left Tividale disappointed as Downing scored the winner for his side on 68 minutes.
