Leaders Pontefract Collieries are taking nothing for granted as the promotion race heads towards the climax, according to Nick Handley.

As things stand, Pontefract need ten more points from their final five games to end their 15-year exile from the Toolstation NCEL Premier Division.

Pontefract are clearly in the driving seat along with Clipstone as both can afford to drop a few points.

Collieries will host Knaresborough Town as they bid to move closer to their dream and Handley wants to see them approach the game in the same way they did in the 7-0 win at Penistone Church.

“We’re taking every game at a time because it can twist and turn so much,” Pontefract’s joint boss told Non League Yorkshire.

“We’re not getting carried away. We have to look after ourselves and take one game at a time.

“When you study the table and look at the games other teams have, it is far from over.

“We just have to do our business and give every ounce of effort to get three points from each game to get us there.

“Knaresborough’s our next target and we’ll take that game and then the next one.

“We have five cup finals, it really is. We said that to the lads at Penistone and look how they responded.

“We can’t put a target on how points we want.”

Iwan Heeley is suspended for Ponte after his harsh red card in the victory over Clipstone two weeks ago.
