Popular West Riding County FA referee Jane Simms is one of many officials who have been promoted.

FIFA referee Simms will take charge of National North games next season as well as acting as an assistant referee in National League matches.

She recently took charge of the Toolstation NCEL League Cup final which saw Handsworth Parramore stage a dramatic comeback to beat Cleethorpes Town 4-3.

Essex based referee Elliott Kaye is another official able to take charge of National South games. Some readers may remember Kaye as he belonged to the West Riding County FA while at Leeds University a few years ago.

There has also been a raft of promotions to the NCEL Premier Division and Evo Stik League games.

A quartet of officials from the West Riding have received good news.

Peter Walker, Joe Goodwin, Matt Sowerby ans Sam Barrott can now take charge of higher league matches – news that will please their local clubs as all four are respected figures.

Lee Freeman, from the Sheffield & Hallamshire FA, will no longer be seen on the Division One circuit as he has been promoted.

Paul Tomes, who won credit for his handling of Worsbrough Bridge’s 1-1 controversial draw with Selby Town in October, has also been rewarded with the same honour along with Adam Smith.
