Paul Stansfield has succeeded Brian Davey at Knaresborough Town following Monday night’s shock events.
Davey resigned after eight years in charge, citing personal reasons, two days before tonight’s (Wednesday) opening pre-season friendly at Riccall United.
Stansfield was meant to be returning to his role as assistant manager, replacing the recently-departed Rob Hunter. He had previously served as Davey’s number two from 2011 until last summer.
Instead of assisting Davey for a second stint, he has landed the top job at the Toolstation NCEL Division One outfit.
The former Harrogate Railway, Clitheroe and Worksop Town player is a popular figure at Manse Lane.
