Mark Simpson got a hat-trick in Garforth’s 4-0 win at Brigg Town

Mark Simpson scored his first semi-professional hat-trick to help Garforth Town ease to a 4-0 victory at struggling Brigg Town in the Toolstation NCEL Premier Division.

The young striker was back in the side as Curtly Martin-Wyatt was ill and he got Garforth’s show on the road with two quick-fire goals either side of the half-hour mark.

Ash Preece supplied Simpson for the opener and then Spencer Lund’s run ended with the striker rounding Brigg goalkeeper Ryan Ramsden for the second goal.

Brigg did cause the odd problem goalkeeper Ben Hunter was forced to top Ryan Thompson’s powerful drive over the crossbar.

Garforth made the points safe late-on when Luke Mangham’s dash down the left-wing ended with a cross for Simpson, who was able to complete his treble.

Mangham was rewarded with a goal for his efforts moments later as Preece cut the Brigg defence open with a pass that sent the attacker away.

Garforth are away at Retford United on Saturday.

Garforth Town: Hunter, Hawksworth, Robertson, Monfredi, Rogers, Alali, Mangham, Shelton, Simpson, Lund, Preece. Subs: Oyebanji, Simpkins, Marshall.
