Ossett Albion under 18s are through to the second qualifying round of the FA Youth Cup after a 3-2 victory over Grimsby Town under 18s at Dimple Wells.

After the opening 30 minutes when Grimsby dominated the game, Albion took the lead in the 35th minute through a well-taken goal by Jordan Garrick. This is how the sides went in at the interval.

Albion started in a positive mood for the second half but then Grimsby got back into their stride. In the 70th minute Albion thought they had extended their lead, through Garrick again was ruled, but his effort was ruled out as off-side.

Two minutes later Grimsby had equalised and 5 minutes after that they had taken the lead and it seemed that Albion had missed their chance. Then up stepped captain Greg Hunter and placed his free-kick wide of the goalkeeper and inside the post in the 83rd minute.

It looked as if the game was going into extra time when Garrick grabbed his second goal to seal a great win for Albion’s young side over quick and physical opponents.

Albion have a home draw in the 3rd Qualifying Round against either Wrexham or Abbey Hey.
