Ossett Albion bowed out of the FA Trophy on Tuesday night after losing 2-0 to Witton Albion in the replay at Dimple Wells.

In the 4th minute a defensive mix-up left Brett Souter in the Albion goal stranded, and Daniel Andrews had an easy task to roll the ball into the net.

Witton gained confidence from this and played the better football whereas Albion relied on the long ball which gained them very little.

The second half was more of the same and another defensive error saw Souter race out of goal and miss his tackle. Christopher Baker was able to go round him and slot the ball home to double Witton’s lead.

Albion introduced Adam Muller and Connor Bower and it was Muller who began to influence their play. Danny South was moved up front and caused problems for the Witton defence, but it was all too little too late.

Ossett Albion: Souter, Thompson, Hardaker, Jones (Bower), Riordan, South, Brunt, Birch, Bordman, Matthews, Hendrie (Muller). Subs unused: Nicholson, Garrick, Wright.
