Title contenders Barton Town Old Boys are reeling from the news that star players Scott Phillips and Louis Kirk will miss the rest of the season.

Striker Phillips ruptured his achilles, while Kirk suffered knee ligament damage.

The pair have been out injured since October, but Dave Anderson had hoped they would return later in the campaign.

However, that will not be the case.

Anderson said: “Both Scott Phillips and Louis Kirk have been ruled out for the rest of the season which is a massive blow to us all.

“Scott will have his pot removed mid January and then start his re-hab which will take around 3 months.

“Whilst this takes him to the end of March it is important that we do not rush him back and make sure he is totally right which may mean for the sake of a few end of season games leaving it until the start of 2016/2017 season.

“Louis will be a similar sort of timescale with his knee ligament damage and again we will make sure that we do not rush him back for the sake of a few end of season games.

“Both players are key members of the side but will not be forgotten as we look to have a strong second half of the season.

“On a more positive note both Danny Chambers and Brad Ricketts are now able to joint the squad after he recent long lay offs through injury.

“Again both are not be rushed and there game time will have to be managed. Chambers got through 20 minutes at Brigg, whilst Brad will be in the squad to travel to Handsworth on Saturday.

“Jake Cawsey who has been very impressive recently since his return from America has now confirmed he will be available until the end of the season and not February as first thought.

“I will be looking to bring in a couple of players in over the next couple of weeks to add numbers to the squad as we are still competing on three fronts.”

Barton are away at Handsworth Parramore in the Toolstation NCEL Premier Division tomorrow.
