The Northern Counties East League have given the green light for Worsbrough Bridge to return to Park Road.

Worsbrough will play their next two matches on Saturday and Tuesday at their temporary home of Maltby Main before making their return to Barnsley.

Bridge were forced to leave Park Road in September, mainly because of floodlight problems, and they initially moved to Grimethorpe before the Sports Ground failed a ground grading inspection.

The return to Worsbrough is a massive boost to the club’s volunteers along with manager Mark Joyce and his players, who will now launch a full-scale assault on ensuring their NCEL status for next season.

A statement from the club said: “Worsbrough Bridge Athletic FC would like to thank all the parties involved from the community, the football club and the trustees of the WSDA who have all worked together to take football back to Park Road and we look forward to a long term partnership over the coming years that will yet again provide stability to the football club within the Worsbrough community.”

A spokesperson from the Worsbrough Sports Development Association (WSDA) who run the ground, added: “WSDA are very happy to see Worsbrough Bridge Athletic FC back at our Park Road site. We have some fantastic facilities here and it is good to see football at the very high level returning.”
