Shaw Lane Aquaforce have been rocked by the news that star goalkeeper Ian Deakin may miss the rest of the season with an achilles injury.

Craig Elliott has responded by recruiting his old stopper Ben Gathercole and former Farsley Celtic goalkeeper Tom Morgan.

Gathercole was Shaw Lane’s number one from November to March last season. He was between the sticks for the heart-breaking FA Vase quarter-finals replay defeat at Glossop.

Morgan is vastly-experienced from spells with Farsley, Guiseley, Halifax Town and Tadcaster. Morgan, who started the season at Ossett Town, was Farsley’s goalkeeper in their 2007 Conference North play-offs final victory.

The final signing that Elliott has made this week is former Garforth Town, Bradford (Park Avenue) and Farsley defender Matt Dempsey.

The Bradford-based centre-back did sign for Ossett Albion in the summer, but he hasn’t featured for Richard Tracey’s side.

Aquaforce are away at Daventry Town this weekend.
