Westella cruised to a fourth consecutive victory after easing past Glasshoughton Welfare at the Euronics Ground.

Two goals in either half saw Welfare undone and had it not been for goalkeeper Josh Archer the scoreline could have been higher.

Welfare were missing influential defenders Jimmy Williams and Andy Seed and this showed in the first minute when Joe Mcfadyen broke through the welfare defence and Archer showed great reflexes to claw his shot around the post.  A few minutes later Chris Spinks hit a shot wide for the home team.

Welfare came close on fifteen minutes when Ryan Poskitt headed a corner just wide of the target, but then at the other end Connor Rollinson cleared off the line as Archer fumbled a corner.

Westella took the lead on the half hour mark when the Welfare defence was caught square and Spinks waltzed through to hit the ball past Archer.

From the kick-off Welfare lost the ball and were two down. The ball was lost on the left and Mcfadyen raced onto it and slotted past Archer into the far corner.

Welfare tried to hit back and good play on the left saw the ball reach Poskitt who saw his shot saved low down by Nathan Otley.

On the stroke of half-time Archer made a great block from Mcfadyen to keep Welfare in the game.

The second half opened strongly for Westella and once again Archer saved his team from going further behind.  Substitute Luke Salas broke free and with a one on one with the keeper Archer made a great block.

Play switched to the other end and Ashley Scothern lobbed the ball over Otley only to see the ball bounce against a post and then be cleared.

On 57 minutes the home team went three up when they were allowed too much space down the left. The ball was played across the edge of the Welfare area and Alex Wood hammered home.

Welfare tried to come back and young Kris Fawcett hit a shot just wide of the far post.

Welfare conceded a fourth goal on sixty four minutes when once again poor defending allowed Mcfadyen to nip in and lob the ball over Archer for his second goal. Just after this, and during a scramble in the Welfare area, Archer got down well at his near post to divert a goal-bound effort for a corner.

In the final few minutes Welfare looked for a consolation goal with Poskitt’s thirty yard shot going just over and then the same player brought a great save out of Otley who made an instinctive save to help the effort over the bar.
