Selby Town have confirmed that interim chiefs Nigel Emery and Reuben Pearse have been handed the reins on a permanent basis.

The duo had been holding the fort since Dave Ricardo was sacked in early February.

The pair did more than enough to warrant their appointment after guiding Selby to a tenth place finish – ensuring a ticket into next season’s FA Cup. Selby also memorably ended AFC Emley’s long unbeaten run under their watch.

Former player Emery has been running the club’s under 19s, while Pearse has played for a variety of local clubs, including Selby. Their coach Mike Carmody is continuing as a member of the management team.

Emery said at the beginning of April that although there was no guarantee that he and Pearse would get the permanent position, he was planning for the summer and targeting promotion next year.
