North Ferriby United manager Billy Heath is set to take charge of FA Trophy winner FC Halifax Town this week, according to reports.

An announcement about Jim Harvey’s future at The Shay is expected today, 24 hours after Halifax beat Grimsby Town in the FA Trophy final at Wembley.

Harvey was their third manager of the season – after Neil Aspin and Darren Kelly – but was unable to prevent them falling back in the National League North.

Heath, on the other hand, guided Ferriby to a play-off final victory – the latest chapter in Ferriby’s most successful period of history. Former Bridlington and Frickley boss Heath is highly regarded after leading them from the Evo Stik Premier Division to the top flight of Non League football. Ferriby also won the FA Trophy under his guidance last year.

Halifax chairman David Bosomworth said after the Trophy final: “Everybody’s asking that question (about the rumours surrounding the manager’s position) , but we’re hopefully going to make a final decision tomorrow (Monday).

“Our decision has to be based on the longer term future of the club so we have to give serious consideration to what we are going to do.”
