New Maltby Main first team coach Andy McKnight

Maltby Main have added A-License coach Andy McKnight as First Team coach for next season.

McKnight will be combining the role with heading up the North of England Football Academy, which is strongly linked with Main.

He earned his stripes with long spells at the academies of Walsall and West Bromwich Albion before further developing himself whilst one of the ‘Coach Educators’ at Premier Skills. He has played a key role in the development of a number of players now playing both professional and international football across Europe.

Andy has spent the last five years coaching in Norway both with his own academy and at professional clubs and has gained a reputation as one of the very best player development coaches in country.

Joint Manager Spencer Fearn said: “I have known Andy for a number of years and seen his work first hand. He is an exceptional coach and having him involved with our first team, under 21’s and academy is fantastic news for us at Main. It’s a great signing for us and we are all looking forward to working with Andy.”

The North of England Football Academy will be holding final trials on 18th June and any players that will be year 12 or year 13 in the next academic year can apply by e-mailing their name, GCSE actual / predicted grades, football history to info@nefa.co.uk.
