You won’t see Darren Hepworth running half the length of the Welfare Ground field to celebrate a AFC Emley goal this season.

Even though it would been appropriate because of the Rio Olympics, Hepworth did not do his trademark 100m dash for either of Emley’s dramatic late goals in the FA Cup victory over Athersley on Sunday.

That’s because the authorities have put a stop to it to what has almost become part of the culture at Emley.

Hepworth told Non League Yorkshire: “I’ve had a warning.

“I ran ten yards down the line and punched the air (against Athersley), that’s about as far as I can go.

“To be honest I’m a year older now so I would probably do a hamstring tried to.

“There’ll be a little less of it this season.”

Emley host Pontefract in the Toolstation NCEL League Cup tomorrow night.
