Shaw Lane AFC defender Dan Wilkinson tragically passed away during the League Cup tie at Brighouse Town
Brighouse Town have allowed Shaw Lane AFC to go through to the next round of the Integro Sport League Cup following Dan Wilkinson’s tragic death.
Shaw Lane were leading 2-0 after an hour when Dan collapsed and later sadly passed away, despite heroic efforts from medics.
The Evo Stik League ratified the decision to let the result stand at Sunday’s board meeting.
Efforts to raise £50,000 for the Dan Wilkinson Foundation are still ongoing. Currently over £8,000 has been raised online. Several clubs have also had bucket collections so the figure could rise from them.
