A good all-round team performance finally earned Ossett Albion their first home win of the season.

Albion could have been in front within the first 5 minutes when a fierce shot from the returning Connor Bower crashed against the post. Then a series of corners for Albion saw Bower flick the ball on at the near post and Jimmy Eyles was on hand to poke the ball into the net.

Radcliffe didn’t offer much to worry Albion and five minutes before the interval Albion doubled their lead. Good pressure prevented Radcliffe from getting the ball clear and Nicky Matthews eventually shot into the top corner.

Albion didn’t create as much in the second half and from the mid-point they began to drop deeper and allow Radcliffe to come on to them. Fortunately Radcliffe’s shooting was wayward and they didn’t trouble Jordan Bradshaw in the Albion goal.

Albion were unlucky not to increase their lead when Eyles turned and fired a shot into the Radcliffe net but was adjudged to be offside.
