Dave Anderson wants to manage again, despite his shock exit from Goole

Dave Anderson believes his exit from Goole AFC is “unfair” and he says that he “stabilised” the club during his two months in charge.

Goole surprisingly announced the departure of Anderson and his assistant Mally Parker on Monday night, citing that the club directors had made the decision because of poor results.

The former Barton Town Old Boys boss was only given 19 games in all competitions at the helm. He won six, drew four and lost nine and the decision to part company has shocked Anderson.

“The phone call tonight was a complete bolt of blue and I think the decision is unfair considering what we have had to do,” Anderson told Non League Yorkshire late on Monday evening.

“We have been only been in charge for two months and they were bottom with one point from six games when we took over.

“When we met the players for the first time, there was only eight and there were some who were leaving.

“We had to completely rebuild the team and I feel we stabilised the club. We were adrift when we took over and we caught up with the teams above us.

“We beat Glossop, who are joint top, Ossett Town, Burscough, as well Whitby and Belper in the cup. We also took Blyth to a replay in the Trophy.

“When we won four games on the bounce at the beginning of October, everyone was getting excited because it was the first time in six years that the club had gone on a run like that.

“I’m very saddened and disappointed by the events of the last few hours. We deserved and needed far more time.”

Despite what has happened, Anderson still wants to return to the dugout.

“I’m keen on getting back into it, wherever that may be,” he said.

“It has not put me off. I feel myself and Mally did well at Goole given the circumstances we inherited and how far we came in just two months.

“Our record at Barton Town speaks for itself and I feel we both have a lot to offer to a club.”
